The Best Dang Chili in Town

Mouthwatering Bowl of Chili

My Uncle Jess has a favorite story he loves to tell about a chili stand that was opened years ago downtown when he was a teenager in the 1960’s. He and his friends couldn’t wait until school let out so they could run to the stand to taste the delectable, perfectly spiced ground meat with kidney beans served to perfection flawlessly topped with a lump of cheddar cheese and sprig of parsley. This chili is what they lived for.

Until one day, when a news reporter from a transistor radio keep on the nightstand of Uncle Jess’s bed rang out these unforgettable words, “Charlie’s Famous Chili Stand is being shut down. Charlie the owner is being charge with the disappearance of several neighborhood cats.”

My Uncle Jess always ends this story by saying, “And if Charlie would open up another chili stand today, I would be the first in line, because that chili was the best dang chili I ever ate.” So the next time you eat a delectable, mouth watering bowl of chili you might want to ask the name of the chef. If his name is Charlie, you may want to reconsider, or call my Uncle Jess.
